Immersed in an episode of exceptional heat two months after summer, surely many of you have not waited for May 40 to put away part of your winter clothes. Soon you will have to do the same with the bedding. The nights are getting softer, which allows us to remove the duvet and replace it with a finer quilt or quilt until next season. But how should you store bedding so that it takes up as little space as possible?
A good way to take advantage of these sunny days is to wash the quilts and blankets that you want to store until the arrival of autumn. These are heavy garments and delicate fabrics, so you must try to strictly comply with the washing instructions that mark the labels when selecting the program. Once you have your clothes clean and free of dirt and mites, you can put them in the dryer or hang them up to dry well.
In the attic, the closet or the sofa, in any of these places you can reserve a space to store the winter bedding. Now, there is only one solution that will allow you to occupy as little space as possible. To vacuum pack blankets and duvets you only need two things: a bag with the right capacity and a vacuum cleaner.
The capacity of vacuum packing bags is measured in liters. Before using them, fold the comforter or whatever you are going to store as best as possible. They also have a ‘zip’ type closure and a mouthpiece, over which you must suck the air inside to reduce the volume of the clothes considerably.
This trick will allow you to store in a single container, for example, a set of flannel sheets, and is very useful when preparing to move. Of course, it is not a method aimed exclusively at bedding and that you can practice with the rest of the clothes in your closet.
Once you have packed all your clothes, another resource to optimize space are storage boxes or trunks. It is preferable that these boxes are made of plastic or a resistant material to properly protect the clothes. Cardboard boxes are not recommended as they attract moths and other insects. Try to always choose a cool and dry place to store your clothes.
On the other hand, if you do not have a secluded place like a loft or storage room, this is a discreet solution that allows you to store your winter clothes in the closet so that they remain safe. Finally you can label each of the boxes to know what each one contains when you need your blankets and duvets again.
