Sonsoles Ónega and Alberto Chicote return to 'prime time' on Antena 3: the channel is preparing a new installment of 'Hablando en plata'

This past month of January, Antena 3 premiered Hablando en plata in prime time. It was a special program, whose name comes from the Atresmedia initiative in favor of people over 55 years of age that began in October 2022. In it, Sonsoles Ónega and Alberto Chicote thoroughly analyzed the problems of these places of rest, documenting “the deficient food, lack of care and abandonment suffered” by its residents.

A space that premiered with great audience success, and that will return to the screens “very soon”. This is how the San Sebastián de los Reyes channel has begun to promote it, announcing a second installment of the report format presented by the original duo. On this occasion, the focus of the program will be the so-called “second-class citizens”, thus referencing all those people who have been affected by bureaucratic digitization.

Ónega and Chicote will collect witnesses and details of how the transition from manual to digital in various areas of everyday life has affected those less experienced with technology. From appointments at medical centers to purchases of public transport tickets, through the use of ATMs and attempts to withdraw money from the bank. A series of problems that older citizens have denounced over the years.

This second program will repeat the format used to expose the problems of the residences. First of all, Alberto Chicote will lead an extensive documentary in which he will experience first-hand these difficulties caused by the modernization of public services. After its broadcast, Sonsoles Ónega will lead the debate table in which the issues seen in the initial piece will be discussed, focusing on possible solutions.

This will be the second time that Ónega has participated in prime time television on Antena 3, the previous being the premiere of Hablando en plata. The inaugural program collected large audience figures, adding 1,935,000 viewers and a 15.9% share of the screen in the documentary phase, in addition to a total of 3,915,000 people and another 18.9% in the debate. Some very successful numbers for the program that bears the name of such an important awareness campaign.

For his part, Chicote will also return to prime time on Antena 3, after having occupied it for several years on La Sexta thanks to his version of Pesadilla en la cocina. The cook is not unknown to investigative reporting and documentary, thanks to his docuseries Are you going to eat it? It is now in its fifth season. Curiously, the premiere of this format was also dedicated to residences for the elderly.
