Despite being a great piece to match, as demonstrated by names such as Terry Crews, the trend of carrying bags among men continues to cause criticism and insults, especially among footballers. Two Real Betis players, Borja Iglesias and Aitor Ruibal, were the latest victims of cruelty after their appearance at the wedding of Eneko Angulo, a member of the Sevillian club’s coaching staff. However, there are those who ignore noise, as is the case of Rubén García.
The Club Atlético Osasuna midfielder proved that the bag is still an acceptable fashion piece in men’s clothing, seeing his images posted on Instagram. He and his partner Ane Mendinueta attended a wedding in Valencia this past weekend, and both presented a formal but colorful look to the nuptials. Garcia, in particular, showed up in a green two-piece outfit with a white bag slung over her shoulder.
The piece was, specifically, a “Tropicalia microbag in white leather and raffia”, from the Marni brand. It is a small bag, with two panels of braided fabric, one on each side. The handles have embossed details and both the bottom, the closure and the removable strap with golden hardware are made of synthetic leather. Available in nine different color combinations, it is available on the website of the Italian firm for 550 euros.
So far, and this is positive, the reactions to the photographs have turned out to be mostly positive. The post has racked up more than 3,700 likes since it went up on Sunday, and comments have complimented the couple on their look. Regarding Rubén García’s bag, there have even been those who have applauded the initiative, even believing themselves incapable of replicating the result: “Surely, modern bags like this don’t look bad, what happens is that I wear that and I look like Tinky-Winky the Teletubby”.
The image of the rojillo player with the bag on his shoulder has also been read in a football key. “Next signing for Betis”, has been another of the reactions to the photograph, specifically from a Betis follower. And it is that Rubén García continued the trend that Borja Iglesias and Aitor Ruibal showed the previous week. In fact, the number nine of the Sevillian team, better known as “el Panda”, showed additional support for his colleague by posting the image in a story along with “I love you”.
Precisely Iglesias and Ruibal had to deal with the insults received after their photographs published at Eneko Angulo’s wedding. Both Betis forwards condemned homophobia and attempts to ridicule his clothing and appearance, also pointing out the Galician attacker’s hairstyle and colored nails. “Every time these kinds of situations happen, they give me the strength to keep fighting so that everyone can do and enjoy themselves and others as they really want,” said “the Panda.”
