Smashing Pumpkins Rock Birmingham with Epic Tour Kickoff

Smashing Pumpkins’ lead guitarist James Iha expressed his enthusiasm for Birmingham as the band kicked off their highly anticipated 2024 tour at the Utilita Arena. The crowd was treated to a two-hour spectacle featuring classic hits like Today and 1979, as well as newer tracks from their latest album Atum, such as Empires and Springtimes.

Iha praised Birmingham as a beautiful place, while frontman Billy Corgan expressed pride in performing in the home of heavy metal. The band’s setlist paid homage to Birmingham’s musical heritage, with Corgan even teasing a rendition of Oasis before being reminded by Iha that it might be more fitting for their upcoming show in Manchester.

The Smashing Pumpkins are set to continue their tour with five more dates in the UK and Ireland, followed by shows in Europe and North America. Fans can expect an unforgettable experience with support from Weezer and Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine.

As the band embarks on their world tour, fans can look forward to a night of electrifying performances and musical genius from one of the most iconic rock bands of our time.
