Luis Rubiales resigns this Friday from his position as president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) after the controversy caused by his attitude during the women’s World Cup final, in which Spain won the ballon d’or. Kissing Jennifer Hermoso and touching her genitals in the authorities’ box after the victory of the players, has led the head of soccer in our country to finally leave.
However, before the news of his resignation was released, many public figures have pointed to Rubiales. Among them, Sandra Barneda, who did not hesitate to attack the president for her execrable behavior.
This is life, the program presented by Sandra Barneda and César Muñoz, dedicated part of its space to talking about Luis Rubiales and if “his hours could be counted as president of the RFEF”, in addition to trying to understand, thanks to his collaborators, the reason of his attitude.
Not only at the time of the denounced facts, but later, when he first tried to silence the criticism with a “we are not bullshit”, to end up recording a video singing the mea culpa.
But the apologies have not helped him on his way to keep his position as the head of the Federation. So much so that this Friday he will announce his resignation in an extraordinary council. Political, social and media pressure have led to it.
But, while this news was being released, Sandra Barneda and her entire team were trying to understand how Luis Rubiales had reached that point, that there is no return. In fact, the presenter gave her opinion about it emphatically.
At Antonio Montero’s comment, who called Rubiales’ attitude “clumsy” and “rude”, Barneda jumped and said: “The thing is not between women and men, it is about someone touching their crotch in front of the queen , that he kiss one of the players, and that he carry her on his shoulders ”.
After these words, which drew applause from the public present on the set, the Catalan continued: “There are things that involve education, manners and that cannot be done, but not even when there are no cameras. Because it’s not acceptable.” And, regarding Rubiales’ reluctance to resign [even at that time the news of his departure was not known], he opined: “This does a disservice to all men and to all people who work in soccer.”
