Spain already has a representative for Eurovision 2024. The duo Nebulossa, who dazzled the audience at the Benidorm Fest with their anthem Zorra, will travel to Malmo to try to win the contest after the recent failed attempts by Blanca Paloma and Chanel, who fell just short of achieve it in a creditable second place.
But not everything went as expected. In the middle of Almácor’s performance some technical problems occurred. Apparently, the visual effects did not appear as expected and the pyrotechnics that were supposed to close his show failed miserably.
News of these issues spread like wildfire on social media, with some suggesting it was a boycott, including the singer’s own team. Others even asked that Almacor be allowed to repeat his performance to have a fair chance.
It was Ruth Lorenzo and Marc Calderó, the presenters of the event, who had the difficult task of explaining what happened. According to them, everything was due to “a screen problem, a super small thing” that in no way affected the vocal quality of the candidate. Although they apologized for what happened, they also expressed their hope that this would not negatively affect Almacor, that he was not going to have a new opportunity. Likewise, given the obvious anger of the public at what happened, they called on the public not to boo.
But what was not seen on television was Lorenzo’s anger. Minutes after the presenters’ explanation, a video began to circulate on
In the video you can read his lips as he curses: “This shit can’t happen.” She can also be seen talking to Almacor about what happened. In her gestures and facial expression you can see her obvious discomfort and disgust with the situation. Despite these moments of tension, RTVE viewers did not notice Ruth Lorenzo’s anger.
