After the long-awaited return of The Grand Prix this past summer, where several towns throughout Spain competed in different tests to win the victory in the legendary space presented by Ramón GarcÃa, the public broadcaster has decided to once again bet on the return of old formats.
The success of the Summer Grand Prix was of such magnitude that the network’s management wanted to renew the format for a second season, which will be released in the summer of 2024. In addition, it will not be the only return that La viewers will enjoy. 1 over the next year. As the media outlet El Confidencial Digital revealed this weekend, RTVE is preparing the return of one of the most successful programs in its history, Look Who Dances!
According to the aforementioned media, the return of the contest will be one of the points to be discussed at the next meeting of the RTVE Board of Directors, which will have to give the green light to the acquisition of the broadcasting rights.
Let us remember that the format was broadcast on La 1 de Televisión Española during the years 2005 and 2009. Five years in which the public channel broadcast a total of seven editions. But in 2010, Telecinco made a surprise by acquiring the broadcast rights to the program, which was renamed Más que baile and was presented by Pilar Rubio.
The edition broadcast on Telecinco is one of the most remembered in the history of the program, since the television station Belén Esteban was proclaimed the winner, snatching the victory in the grand final from the singer Edurne. But the television career in Mediaset was shorter than expected and in 2014, the program returned to La 1 de Televisión Española, where its last edition was broadcast in 2018.
As explained by the media El Confidencial Digital, RTVE plans to order a total of ten installments, which will be broadcast soon in the network’s prime time. In addition, the production company in charge of this new edition will be Zeppelin, responsible for producing programs such as Big Brother.
At the moment it is unknown who will be in charge of conducting this new edition, but it is known that the approximate cost of the entire season will be around six million euros.
