Rocío Flores has achieved something that very few achieve in these times of the digital age: putting an entire community of users on social networks against it. The reason, some unfortunate statements that she made in one of her last public appearances, in which she was asked about the tribute that had been paid to her grandfather, Pedro Carrasco, in Alosno (Huelva), last June 10th.
An event attended by his mother, Rocío Carrasco, with whom he has no relationship; and in which a sculpture dedicated to the athlete was inaugurated. When asked by her, Rocío Flores did not hesitate to extol the figure of her grandfather, but with such bad luck that she, on the way, left her grandmother, Rocío Jurado, on the ground.
“The one who was of fundamental weight was my grandfather. My grandmother was a singer, she was the greatest in the world of the heart… All great, but as a recognized athlete, world champion, featherweight, Europe 20,000 times… I love you say,” said the young woman.
A few words that users on social networks did not forgive, turning Rocío Flores viral and bothering to “educate” her about the figure and achievements of the Greatest throughout her career. Something that has bothered the daughter of Antonio David Flores a lot, who used her Instagram Stories to try to explain herself once and for all.
“This is something that I really thought I did not have to clarify, but hey, seeing the amount of nonsense that I am seeing, I clarify it,” Antonio David Flores’s daughter began through her Instagram Stories, visibly upset, to pass to try to explain his statements.
“The statements that I gave the other day were specifically due to the fact that a monument to my grandfather had been put up specifically now, and what I am saying is that this recognition that is being done to him now, from my point of view, It should have been done many years ago,” insists Rocío, emphasizing the figure of her grandfather as an elite athlete, beyond as a mere media character.
“My grandmother was a highly recognized singer, an impeccable professional career… That generates media interest, but my grandfather was an elite athlete and a person with an impeccable professional career,” he insists, reiterating that his viral statements are related with the fact that the monument was erected just now.
“This does not mean, far from it, that I am belittling the professional figure of my grandmother, like those bullshit that I am reading,” she says, recommending to those who harass her on social networks for her words to see the complete statements she offered to the press agency covering the event.
“My two grandparents, for me, are my references in my family. I feel super proud of both of them,” she says emphatically, adding that it would have been nice if all the recognitions that Rocío Jurado has received over the years were also Pedro Carrasco would have had, as an elite athlete.
“Whoever wants to understand it, should understand it; and whoever doesn’t want to understand it, shouldn’t understand it”, he says, to settle the matter, “but don’t put words in my mouth that I haven’t said”.
