Risto Mejide: "The responsibility of a separated father is to get along with the mother of his son"

Risto Mejide is finally having a good time at all levels. The publicist enjoys a great professional stage, both on television with Viajando con Chester and the recent premiere of the last season Got Talent; as in the world of literature with his book, Sixteen Notes (Grijalbo Narrative). Also on a personal level, after his well-known breakup with Laura Escanes, mother of his little daughter, Roma. Months later, Risto Mejide smiles again with the Valencian pharmacist Natalia Almarcha, with whom he has already appeared at social events.

A new stage with another person that the publicist begins, just as Laura Escanes has done with the Sevillian singer Álvaro de Luna; or as the presenter Ruth Jiménez, the mother of her eldest son, Julio, did. Two women with whom the publicist maintains a very cordial relationship, something that for him prevails above all else, since he considers that it is his duty for his children.

This was stated by the communicator in a peculiar interview to present his book in the first TikTok Contra of La Vanguardia, where he dared to answer the incisive questions of the journalists Víctor M. Amela, Ima Sanchís and Lluís Amiguet about the couple and the family .

Among other things, the publicist confessed that he had never fallen in love with a 25-year-old person… exactly, or that when someone leaves a partner “it’s because they’ve been gone for a long time.” However, one of the responses that aroused the most curiosity was his reaction to Amela’s question about how to raise children in families with two different mothers.

“In the end it is a matter of responsibility,” Mejide says, “When you have a child, the responsibility does not end with that human being, but also with everyone around them. I believe that the responsibility of a separated father is also getting along with the mother of your child. That’s part of the responsibility the day you have the child.”

Mejide has always tried to get along with his two ex-partners, Laura Escanes and Ruth Jiménez. With the first, she has had her ups and downs in recent months, given how unequal both were carrying the first moments of their breakup. However, they managed to get the waters back to normal for the good of little Rome.

Because of her, they both reside in Madrid, where they fulfill most of their professional commitments. “Logistically, we are all doing better,” Escanes said in a recent interview.

With Ruth Jiménez, Julio’s mother, the publicist maintained a discreet relationship from 2011 to 2014. Jiménez has always been in favor of staying in the background, but she did want to send her public support to her son’s father after confirming her break with Laura Escanes, assuring that “you can count on me”. The journalist lives in Barcelona with her son, and her partner, the writer Santiago Tejedor, with whom she has a very consolidated relationship.

With whom he has no relationship, however, is with his own mother. The publicist revealed the family drama during the interview he conducted with Máximo Huerta in Viajando con Chester, confessing that he had not spoken to her for four years and that he did not even know her daughter Roma from her. A conflict between mother and son that began after a strong argument in 2018 that separated them until the present, as explained by the publicist. Since then, he hasn’t heard from her and her mother, perhaps only because of what he sees of hers and her son in the media.
