Risto Mejide is one of the most prominent figures in the world of television. More than a decade has passed since the publicist’s debut on the small screen, and since then, his popularity has grown by leaps and bounds. We have seen him in all kinds of formats, as an interviewer, as a jury in talent shows, as an interviewee… Today marks the seventeenth anniversary of the Catalan’s first appearance in The Invention of the Century, and he himself wanted to remember it.

Publicist, writer, interviewer and showman, Risto Mejide is one of the most prominent faces on television, but also in the press, where he often makes headlines, both for his sentimental life and for his incendiary statements. There are many who knew Risto in Operación Triunfo, but the reality is that his debut was not on the RTVE program, but on another program where he also served as a judge and which served as a springboard to fame: El Invento del Siglo .

“On this day, in 2006… Risto Mejide made his first appearance on television. It was in the program El invento del siglo, on Antena 3,” it can be read in a publication of the Teleaudiencias account on Instagram. A publication that Mejide himself has reuploaded. “17 years already”, he wrote, along with an emoticon of a face hiding behind its hands.

Risto’s debut program was broadcast by Antena 3 briefly since the audience did not accompany him with the results. But this talent show was devised by the same production company as OT, Gestmusic, which saw in Risto a perfect judge to instruct the contestants on the music program. So a few months after the bump in his debut, Mejide rose to stardom with one of the formats most loved by the audience in Spain.

From there, Risto has been reinventing itself and changing the types of programs and chains. After a long season linked to Mediaset with Viajando con Chester, he decided to change sides and bet on Antena 3 with a similar but different program that was entitled Al rincón de pensar. However, this space did not obtain audience data. After a while, he returned to Mediaset, where we have seen him as a jury on Got Talent and presenting the program Todo es mentira, on Cuatro. A new installment of his famous Chester has also been broadcast in recent months.

Since his debut on television, the Catalan has not lacked projects. In addition, he is also succeeding as a writer, and he has already published eight books, most of them have been great success. In the sentimental field, Mejide separated from Laura Escanes last September after more than seven years of relationship, five married and a daughter in common: Roma.

As we said, his love life has made him star in a large number of headlines in recent months. At the end of last year, she was known for a new relationship: Natalia Almarcha. During these months they have lived their relationship with discretion, but this week it came to light that the couple had put an end to their relationship after a few months together. Showing off her characteristic hermeticism, Risto was not willing to give too many details about the breakup. Without a doubt, Risto is one of those television characters who get the most out of it. Each of his movements is analyzed with a magnifying glass.
