La Unión is one of those groups that will go down in the history of music in Spain. Led by Rafa Sánchez, its vocalist, the group hit a real hit in our country in the 80s. Songs like Lobo-hombre en París or Sildavia catapulted its four members to stardom at an early age. This success led the vocalist to experiment with hard drugs like heroin, something she has now spoken about with El Español. In addition, Sánchez has revealed that her heart has been very excited and busy for a couple of months.

The artist, who is currently on tour in Spain and will publish a new album, has opened up to the aforementioned medium and has assured that an accident prevented him from ending up as the famous ‘club of 27’. “I wanted to get out of that underworld, and breaking my leg in that motorcycle accident was the excuse to get it. I had prayed a lot in those days when I left it and one day, when I was looking for a camel, that thing came to me: ‘ Do not lead me into temptation. I did not take drugs again, “he revealed to the medium, about the moment in which he left his addictions.

Now all that is in the past and he is completely devoted to his new tour, called Vampiros. “The truth is that, within what is possible, I am happy. One cannot be happy all the time, but, putting the good and the bad on a scale, I would tell you that I do consider myself a happy guy”, he expresses about your current situation. In addition, he claims that the energies of the people around him influence his mood. “Sad, whiny people end up sucking up your energy,” he says. “The truth is that I do believe a little in this. I prefer to have friends who do not complain and move forward,” he says.

The singer is now immersed in the preparation of his new album. It will be called Adults Only, and it will contain all those songs that he has been posting on the Internet in recent months. In addition, his solo tour is being a success, although he acknowledges that he is still closely linked to his past as a member of La Unión. “The tour is going very well. I am already beginning to use the name of Rafa Sánchez more than that of La Unión. I am beginning to take into account that Rafa Sánchez is also a brand, although in my concerts the most iconic songs of my stage continue to sound with the group”, he explained to El Español.

Precisely on the dissolution of the group also wanted to pronounce. “There was no longer much chemistry between us when it came to making songs,” he began by saying. “Then there is always a story that works as a trigger or straw that breaks the camel’s back, but it no longer makes sense to even mention it. We saw that it no longer worked and we said that it was best for each one to continue on their own,” he sentenced.

The interpreter opened up about another very personal topic in his interview: the moment in which he revealed his homosexuality, at the age of twenty-nine. “Together with my family, they [components of La Unión] were the first to know about it. A few years after that, thinking not only of myself, but also of those people who can live in more closed communities, I decided to make that statement through Shangay magazine. That same year I appeared on a list of the fifty most influential gays in El Mundo,” he recalled.

In addition, the singer confessed that he is currently excited, and considers, at 61, that it is never too late to fall in love. “Currently, I’m madly in love. I was with my previous partner for a little over four years and, in the end, time ended that love,” he began by explaining. “I spent a year in mourning, but it’s been almost two months since a person appeared in my life. I’m delighted with him. I’m very in love and I really like to try to make those first moments last a long time,” he sentenced the aforementioned medium, very excited .
