Surrogacy is an increasingly widespread practice. In fact, in recent weeks, the ethical debate related to this practice has returned to the forefront of the media after Ana Obregón confirmed that her new daughter was the result of a surrogate.

In Spain this practice is considered illegal, but in other territories of the world it is regulated. In the last few hours, it has been announced that Prince Gustav Sayn Wittgenstein Berleburg, nephew of Queen Margaret of Denmark, and his wife, Carina Axelsson, are going to be the parents of their first child, through a third person.

The princes will expand their family by surrogacy one year after having passed through the altar. The birth is scheduled for the summer and, as announced by the Danish Royal House itself, it will take place through “a surrogate mother.”

In the same statement, the couple thanked for this opportunity, making special mention of “those involved who have helped to find a legal path forward.”

In addition, Prince Gustav and his wife Carina have asked the press and public opinion for discretion: “For the sake of the child, refrain from asking any more questions. More information will be published when the time comes ”, concludes the published official statement.

Prince Gustav is the son of the only sister of Queen Margaret of Denmark, which is why, despite not occupying a prominent position in the line of succession of the Danish monarchy, he belongs to the Royal House of Glücksburg.

Gustav and Carina have been in the media spotlight for years. The couple had to wait 19 years to be able to get married due to a clause in the will of the prince’s grandfather that forced his heirs to marry women who met specific requirements, in the case of wanting to keep the properties and titles of the dynasty.

The couple got married in June of last year in a very private ceremony attended only by a number of very special guests.
