In the first season of Red Queen, the priority in the writers’ room was clear: create a juicy dynamic between Antonia Scott and Jon Gutiérrez, the characters played by Vicky Luengo and Hovik Keuchkerian. Perhaps they were on the trail of Ezequiel, a particularly disturbing serial killer, but they had time to understand each other, acquire some habits and forge a friendship. And, whoever is left wanting more, Prime Video wants to continue exploring the investigators: Red Queen will have a second season, which will adapt the novel Black Wolf by Juan Gómez-Jurado.

From the Amazon content platform, they defend that Red Queen “has become the most watched premiere of an original Spanish series locally three days after its launch” and that it entered the list of the 10 most watched titles in more from 120 markets, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, India, Mexico and Australia. Of course, the media does not have access to the consumption data of Prime Video subscribers as, for example, Netflix does openly publish every week.

“We are delighted to see that Reina Roja has captivated the Spanish public and has become a resounding success,” added María José Rodríguez, head of the platform’s original fiction production. In her opinion, Antonia and Jon “have captivated the audience” and are “eager to begin production on the sequel to this exciting story and continue building the universe that Juan Gómez-Jurado has created.”

Black Wolf, which was published in 2019, was sold with this brief synopsis: “Antonia Scott is not afraid of anything. She only herself. But there is someone more dangerous than her. Someone who could beat her. The Black Wolf is getting closer. And Antonia, for the first time, is scared. Staying alive has never been so difficult.”

After production of the second season, there will only be one novel about Antonia Scott left to adapt: ??White King, centered around the archnemesis of the woman with an IQ of 242.
