Peter Crombie from 'Seinfeld' dies after battling an unknown illness

Bad news for the world of cinema. Peter Crombie, known for his role in Seinfeld, has died at the age of 71. It was his wife, Nadine Kijner, who announced that the actor died last Wednesday due to a sudden and unknown illness. At the moment, the reasons that led to his transfer are unknown.

Peter was famous for playing Joe Davola on the hit ’90s sitcom Seinfeld, alongside stars like Jerry Seinfeld and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. After his death, Nadine wanted to pay tribute to his ex-husband. “He was the kindest, most loving and considerate man,” she said. “He was loved by everyone, generous and never had anything bad to say about anyone,” she said in statements collected by TMZ. A friend of the actor also wanted to dedicate a few words to Peter, describing him as “a gentle and loyal friend of soft words and expressive work as an actor and writer.”

As for Crombie, he was born on June 26, 1952 and, according to the IMdB portal, his acting career began in 1987 with the television film Lost Souls, starring Tommy Lee Jones and Annette O’Toole. In his cinematographic career we find titles such as Terror Has No Shape, Rising Sun or My Dog Skip. In addition, he also appeared in Seven and worked under Oliver Stone on three occasions: in Born on the Fourth of July, The Doors and Natural Born Killers.

He later appeared on Seinfeld as Jerry’s stalker and Elaine’s date from 1992 to 1993. He reportedly took a break from Hollywood starting in 2000. His last known credit is Texas Ranger from that same year. Peter also has a professional writing credit for the 2006 short film Threshold. Since then, he has led a quiet life away from the film industry.

On the other hand, there are many expressions of affection that have been sent to the actor after his death. One of them comes from comedian Lewis Black. “I am heartbroken by the death of my good friend Peter Crombie. He was a talented artist. Not only was he a wonderful actor, but he was also an immensely talented writer. More importantly, he was so sweet, as he was intelligent and I am a better person for meeting him,” he expressed through his official profile on X. In addition, social networks have been filled with tributes to the actor from anonymous faces.
