US authorities are looking for Patrick J. Pespas, star of the well-known HBO documentary Telemarketers, which uncovers the scam hidden behind a New Jersey company that supposedly raised money for charities. The money never reached these entities and 90% of the donations went to the business owners.
As explained by the directors of the mini-documentary series, Pespas supposedly disappeared on Friday night and has not been seen or heard from since. He disappeared from his home in Easton, Pennsylvania, where he was last seen around 8 PM.
“Pat is missing, and Sue, his family and friends are very worried about him,” explained co-director Adam Bhala Lough in a post on X. And asked for help in locating him: “Please spread the word that Pat is missing and help us find it.”
The seller was last seen in his white Ford Mustang and is believed to be somewhere in New Jersey, Bhala Lough continues. To facilitate the search, the co-director shared photos of the vehicle, as well as a recent photo of Pespas. And he asked that any information be communicated through the email address he provided.
The documentary crew recognizes that Pespas, one of the company’s shrewd salespeople, has a history of substance abuse.
Pespas, 55, and co-director Sam Lipman-Stern worked at the New Jersey-based call center. The company was dedicated to raising funds for charities, but the reality was very different. Soon, they learned that Civic Development Group was allegedly pocketing people’s donations.
