During his visit to the ‘El Hormiguero’ program, the President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, was questioned by Pablo Motos about possible pacts, especially with the Popular Party (PP). When asked, Sánchez avoided giving a direct answer, stating that his objective is to win the elections: “I am going to win the elections,” he interrupted the presenter. However, during the conversation, it was revealed that Pablo Motos will not exercise his right to vote in the elections on July 23.
“We are going to be the first political force, we are going to have more seats. I am going out to win the elections, although perhaps I do not have the vote of someone who is at this table”, commented the President of the Government, referring to Pablo Motos himself.
Sánchez mentioned the possibility that Pablo Motos was a “ex-voter” of the Socialist Party (PSOE) to which the presenter responded by recalling that in the last two elections he could not vote due to his responsibilities as an interviewer. However, Motos made it clear that, even if he had the opportunity to vote in these elections, he has decided to abstain for a personal matter.
The presenter of ‘El Hormiguero’ explained that he does not want to interview a candidate and then exercise his vote in favor of that same person, considering that it would be a lack of impartiality. “I was going to vote in these elections, in secret, but I will not go either because I am going to interview you today and Mr. Feijóo tomorrow, and I do not want to interview a person and then vote for them. I don’t want to. It’s a personal thing.” Motos affirmed that, due to his personal conviction, he will not participate in the electoral process.
This revelation by Pablo Motos adds an interesting nuance to the interview, highlighting the presenter’s position as someone who prefers to stay out of political contention and preserve his objectivity in the exercise of his professional work.
