Ángela Carrasco remembers her relationship with Camilo Sesto after 'Jesucristo Superstar': "How nice that what he did remains"

Camilo Sesto is back in the news. This time, for the recent premiere of the biopic that Atresplayer has made about the singer, Camilo Superstar, and whose first episode was released last Sunday. In the series, the musical Jesus Christ Superstar plays an important role, from which it takes its name, and which was adapted and premiered a few days before Franco’s death in 1975.

Coinciding with the premiere of the new series on the Atresmedia platform, the program Y Ahora Sonsoles, on Antena 3, invited the Dominican actress and singer Ángela Carrasco, who played María Magdalena in the same musical, to the set this Monday to remember his great relationship with Camilo Sesto in those years.

Sonsoles Ónega spoke with Carrasco, who also gave his opinion on the production recently released on Atresplayer. “It’s something very special, that they talk in the present tense about something that happened previously,” acknowledged the artist, who claims to be excited about the possibility of a role inspired by herself appearing in the series.

“You know what? It made me very nostalgic, because talking about someone you have known, who has been with you, who we have made songs, who we have worked together, not only here in Spain but also abroad… And it is someone who does not is there, and then you see it there, you say: ‘God, what a shame’, but how nice that so much of what he did can remain,” he confessed.

Ónega later recalled that Ángela Carrasco has been “the person who was closest to Camilo” in those years, since the mid-1970s, becoming “in flesh and blood” from that precise moment and thanks to Jesus Christ Superstar.

The Dominican singer recalled how she was chosen to appear in the musical: “I arrived at the last minute, I sang a song, and right there: ‘Camilo, there’s someone who sings!'” she said, taking advantage of the occasion to delight everyone. those present on set with their interpretation.
