'Naked Attraction' arrives in Spain: The dating program that discards candidates based on their private parts

British ingenuity on television seems to have no limits, and one of the latest hits that has transcended borders is ‘Naked Attraction’, a controversial dating show where the choice of partners is made based on the private parts of the contestants.

Created on Channel 4 in 2016, it has caused a stir for its unique approach and has recently arrived in the United States through HBO Max.

Unlike other dating shows, in ‘Naked Attraction’, participants are completely naked in booths, and the bachelor or bachelorette on duty selects their initial partner based solely on what their genitals reveal. The process continues with the gradual exposure of the body and subsequent elimination of the contestants until only one remains. The novelty is that, after this peculiar choice, the selector also strips completely naked, and the couple has their first date in a public place.

The Spanish version of ‘Naked Attraction’, filmed several years ago and presented by Marta Flich, collaborator of ‘Everything is a Lie’, was kept in the drawer, but is expected to arrive on the HBO Max platform in spring 2024. This controversial The format also addresses social issues, as videos about sexual education and prejudice are broadcast during eliminations. The US version has revealed that black candidates tend to be ruled out more quickly, prompting reflections on bias and preferences.

The presenter Marta Flich, who will lead the Spanish version, was enthusiastic about the proposal and highlighted her participation in the adaptation of another similar program, ‘Adventure in Balls’, which will also see the light of day on HBO Max. In addition, the platform will launch a new edition of ‘Peking Express’, with famous and anonymous participants, thus consolidating its commitment to innovative and provocative programs.

The arrival of these formats on the Max platform promises to generate controversy and keep viewers expectant, exploring the limits of dating and reality television in the Spanish context.
