Nickelodeon is back in the spotlight. Matthew Underwood, actor known for playing Logan Reese in Zoey 101, has confessed that he was a victim of sexual abuse when he was just 19 years old.
The star of the children’s series Zoey 101, starring Jamie-Lynn Spears, has shocked her followers with a harsh testimony, in which she claims to have suffered abuse from her former agent.
“When I was 19, I was sexually harassed and then assaulted by my agent at the time, who had spent quite a bit of time building trust in me as a friend and mentor. “Once again, my trust was betrayed and my self-image was crushed,” Underwood wrote on Instagram.
The interpreter continues: “I reported him to the agency and they fired him, although he is still active in the industry. This experience caused him to move me away from Los Angeles and end my acting career.”
The testimony comes a few weeks after the premiere of Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, a documentary in which several Nickelodeon stars have shared the abuse they suffered during the years they worked for the children’s network.
Several child stars have accused Dan Schneider, creator of series such as Zoey 101 or iCarly, of fostering a toxic work environment, going so far as to torment and humiliate the cast. As for Underwood, he claims to have not had a bad experience with Schneider.
