Fame has many good things, but it also has many bad consequences. Being a top-notch actor or a successful singer can give you the life of luxury you’ve always dreamed of, but it will also make you stop doing small everyday things, such as going to the supermarket, taking your dog for a walk or go shopping with friends at a mall.

Furthermore, many stars and celebrities from our country and internationally suffer harassment, both from fans who would give their lives to meet them and from haters who dedicate themselves body and soul to criticizing them on social networks. In the case of Matthew McConaughey, the actor has been enduring harassment for years from a woman who is ‘in love’ with him.

As the Magic Mike, Dallas Buyers Club, Interstellar and Killer Joe actor explained, he suffered harassment from said person in different ways: “Unhinged letters, emails and frivolous lawsuits designed to lure me to court.”

Although McConaughey and his entourage had communicated with her asking for respect and had denied any type of information or belief, said woman was convinced that she had a romantic relationship with the famous man.

After five years of persecution, the actor couldn’t take it anymore and put the matter in the hands of the authorities. Last Thursday, after evaluating the case, a judge granted a restraining order. The woman did not attend the hearing and requested a postponement of the legal appointment, but she was denied because she had previously been granted more time and there were no causes to justify said delay in the procedure.

For the actor there was a turning point: the girl had bought a ticket and would travel hundreds of kilometers to attend an event that the artist was holding in Los Angeles for the publication of his children’s book Just Because.

The actor’s fan finally attended the event, but when she arrived she was detained and escorted by the venue’s security forces. Because there were families and children at the event, the actor wanted to request the restraining order and make sure everything went well.

After the judge’s decision, McConaughey breathes a sigh of relief, since the stalker will not be able to approach him for the next five years. At the moment, the actor has not spoken publicly. For his part, his representative did not want to give any type of statement to the press on the matter.
