Marta Sánchez confesses her mental health problems: "All that glitters is not gold"

Marta Sánchez can boast of having 30 years of musical career behind her. Three decades where she has managed to position herself as one of the most recognized Spanish singers nationally and internationally. But, although she has always been among successes, problems and controversies have also involved the interpreter of Desperate.

Following Alejandro Sanz’s publication about having a very hard time in his life and ensuring that he is “sad and tired”, Marta Sánchez wanted to send him a message. In addition, to everyone’s surprise, the singer has confessed that her mental health has also been affected on several occasions.

Marta Sánchez has attended the Telva magazine Fight with Care gala aimed at supporting oncology patients. At the photocall, she did not hesitate to answer questions from the press. When she has received the first one from her about Alejandro Sanz, the singer has assured that she has gone through similar stages throughout her career.

“I have also had my bumps in life and in my career. Not everything is gold that glitters,” Sánchez began to recount for the first time. He claims to support Sanz in these hard times for him and applauds his decision to go public “because you have to be very brave.”

But everything has not stopped there. The singer has continued to recount the situation that she has gone through on several occasions. “I have also had tremendous bumps, and a desire to disappear,” she has assured to the surprise of the media. Of course, she wanted to make it clear that her case is different from that of Alejandro Sanz.

She has affirmed that for her “it was worse to stay at home” and that her work has saved her life many times. “From the death of my sister, from the death of my father, from some important break… and I have always taken refuge in music”, she has continued. He has also confessed to advice given to him by her mother: “When you feel down and sad, hold on to your music.”

Marta Sánchez wanted to vindicate, even more, the power that music has for her. And for this reason she has sent a message to Sanz and has assured that, apart from the support that his children and friends can give him, “the love that he feels for music will always be the float of his life.”

The singer has also addressed how she is currently and has stated that she is in a “very full” moment of her life. “I count on the incredible love that my partner gives me and the support that he gives me that is incredible too”, she has continued. Of course, she did not want to end without sending a message to her boyfriend Federico de León: “Fede is the love of my life.”
