After more than a year engaged, Princess Marta Luisa and shaman Durek Verrett already have a date to get married. The Norwegian Royal House announced the happy news in a brief statement. “Princess Martha Louise and Durek Verrett announced today (Wednesday) that they will marry in August 2024,” are the words used by the Norwegian royal family. The note includes congratulations from Kings Harald and Sonia, parents of the future bride, as well as Crown Princes Haakon and Mette-Marit.
Shortly after, it was the couple who gave more information and specified the day on which they will celebrate their wedding. It will be August 31 next year and the chosen location has been the historic Union Hotel in Geiranger, western Norway.
The couple explained why they chose the small tourist town of Geiranger because “it is known for its spectacular fjord and mountains. It is on the UNESCO World Heritage list and represents the rich culture and natural beauty of “Norway. We are very happy to celebrate our love in the beautiful surroundings of Geiranger. It means a lot to us to bring our loved ones together in a place so rich in history and intense nature experiences. Geiranger is the perfect place to embrace our love,” according to the princess wrote in a post that she shared with her future husband.
Kings Harald and Sonia wanted to send their best wishes to the couple and dedicated the following words to them: “The Queen and I are delighted that Princess Martha Louise and Durek Verrett have announced their wedding plans today. We are delighted to welcome Durek Verret to the family and look forward to celebrating the big day with them. We wish Marta and Durek all the best.”
For their part, Marta Luisa’s brother and his wife, Haakon and Mette-Marit, also wanted to send the following message: “We congratulate Princess Marta and Durek Verrett on their wedding in August next year. We are happy for them and look forward to celebrating with them in Geiranger. We wish Marta, Durek and the girls all the best for the future.”
Marta Luisa and Durek Verret announced their engagement on June 7, 2022, after three years of relationship. Their lives were brought together thanks to a mutual friend who insisted that they had to meet because she was sure they would get along. The friendship soon gave way to a love relationship that was not easy at first, when it had many detractors. But the passage of time has made it possible for this courtship to gradually advance and strengthen until it reaches the altar.
