Margot Robbie closes her time as Barbie with this dress at the Critics Choice Awards

This year, Margot Robbie has left a trail of spectacular looks to remember in a continuous nod to Barbie. The Australian actress who stars in Greta Gerwig’s film has brought the famous doll to life on the red carpet, with full-scale outfits that are versions of Barbie’s dresses. However, after a year of pink designs and lots of sequins, Robbie has decided to end this era on the Critic Choice Awards red carpet.

The interpreter has trusted the mastery of Olivier Rousteing, who has made for Balmain a red wet-effect dress with a bateau neckline and a mermaid train.

The piece stands out for its neckline full of red roses as well as its vinyl fabric with which it creates strategic gathers on the body. And if the 2023 catwalks showed the industry’s obsession with the anthurium – Loewe made this flower the protagonist of its spring/summer collection – this year it seems that the red rose will be the focus of the industry.

Margot Robbie has not been the only one who has opted for this type of flower to adorn her red carpet design at the Critics Choice Awards. The British Emily Blunt has also insisted on this trend through her passion red design. Made of sequins and signed by Armani Privé, her design is crowned with a large rose on the shoulder that enhances the garment and combines perfectly with her makeup.

The latest to join this new fixation on the red rose has been the singer Dua Lipa. The author of Dance the Night on Barbie has opted for a strapless Prada design that simulates a pattern made of petals.

The 3D flower has even reached men’s wardrobes thanks to Jeremy Allen White’s proposal at the same awards: a tulip in the shape of a brooch to add color and freshness to a gala suit.
