Antonio Tejado, nephew of María del Monte, 36, was arrested last weekend in Seville, accused of being part of an organized gang dedicated to theft of homes in the Aljarafe region of Seville. Among the properties raided is the residence of María del Monte herself and her partner, Inmaculada Casal, where they were victims of a violent raid last August. Tejado has already entered prison, and the singer has spoken out about the events.
Visibly affected by recent events, she has shared her first words regarding the situation her nephew is going through: “I am very sad. It is a very painful situation, but we have to wait,” said María del Monte, according to Vanitatis. These statements reflect the deep pain that overcomes the artist when a loved one is involved in criminal activities.
Tejado’s arrest was the result of an exhaustive investigation carried out by the Civil Guard over several months, known as operation Abgena, which culminated in an operation that led to the arrest of eight individuals. Six of them, including Tejado, remain in police custody pending the development of the investigation.
Meanwhile, two of those arrested have been released on provisional bail, while the others face a series of accusations ranging from robbery with violence, illegal detention, injuries, threats and membership in a criminal organization.
This Monday, María del Monte’s nephew appeared before the Investigative Court number 16 of Seville, where he chose not to give a statement, like half of the detainees. The Prosecutor’s Office, for its part, requested provisional prison, communicated and without bail for Tejado, who is attributed the role of “intellectual author” in the robbery that occurred at the singer’s home.
