After 18 years of absence, the Summer Grand Prix has returned to television all over Spain. The mythical contest presented by Ramón García returned triumphantly to La 1 this past Monday, registering an overwhelming 26.1% audience share and more than two million viewers. Alfacar and Colmenarejo faced each other in this first program, which left unforgettable and anecdotal moments for all tastes, starring both contestants and sponsors.
Lolita Flores, the singer and daughter of the renowned Lola Flores, had a place on the set as the sponsor of the Alfacar blue team. Together with Miguel Ángel Muñoz, a collaborator of the yellow team from Colmenarejo, she was in charge of encouraging the participants, as well as collaborating in some of the tests. It was her participation in one of them that she left one of the most remembered scenes of the first duel, with an unexpected tribute to her mother included.
Lolita participated in the Hot Potato, the game consisting of guessing the number that Ramón García asks while holding a balloon that gradually increases in size. The idea is to answer correctly and pass the balloon to the participant of the opposite team, so that he tries to continue answering before it explodes. The move did not go well for the Madrid player, and she was met with an explosion and a huge scare.
After Miguel Ángel Muñoz hit in extremis the number of points that Chanel obtained in Eurovision 2022, Lolita received a very swollen Hot Potato, difficult to avoid. The singer had almost no time to answer what year we would be according to the Chinese calendar, when the balloon burst. Uncomfortable, she ended up sitting on the steps that led to the stands, ignoring Michelle Calvó’s instructions and leaving an indelible phrase: “If you love me, leave me!”
The expression that the artist released before Ramón García was a reference to another legendary phrase that her mother, Lola Flores, shouted during her wedding with the Argentine Guillermo Furiase in 1983. The popularity of the couple crowded more than 5,000 people in the Iglesia de la Encarnación in Marbella, to the point that the cantaora had to request the eviction of the room: “My daughter cannot get married. So if you want me, leave. If you want something from me, go away. You have to get people out, or they won’t get married.”
The tribute to his mother did not go unnoticed on social networks, with the publication of the official La 1 account on Twitter adding nearly 50,000 views, as well as 450 “likes”. Users also reacted to the moment, leaving responses for all tastes. “We have time for the entire week,” indicated one of the comments, thus indicating the thousand and one repetitions that will be made of this clip until the next program is broadcast.
