Leticia Sabater was an icon of our country in the nineties. The Catalan has been working in the entertainment world for more than 40 years, during which time she has also carved out a professional career in the world of television and music, where she has left behind iconic songs such as La Salchipapa.
On Wednesday afternoon, the 57-year-old presenter visited the set of Sonsoles Onega to talk about her professional career and some of the most unknown aspects of her personal life. ”I have done few interviews where people can really know me because generally I am always doing the show, but I think people don’t know Leticia Sabater well,” she began by saying.
Suddenly, the artist became emotional and could not control her tears. ”Sorry, I was moved by the public’s applause because they are people who have been following me for many years and have been through thick and thin (…) Sometimes you do better and other times worse, but I believe that you should never give up because it is the way to achieve your goals,” Sabater confessed.
Her life has not been a bed of roses, since as a child she suffered bullying at school due to her strabismus. In addition, the presenter comes from a large family, related to the Martinez-Bordiú, who never wanted her to dedicate herself to show business. ”I have never pulled on my family to get anything,” she clarified.
Despite how close her family has always been, Leticia Sabater confessed that she never felt supported by her parents in her professional career. ”I didn’t speak to my father for two years, people don’t know that,” she said, very excited. ”When I was born the first thing that happened was that my grandfather said ”this girl has no solution” because she was tremendously ugly. Also, I was born with pyloric dehydration which causes you to be practically stillborn. And my mother strengthened me with bottles,” she said.
The presenter confessed that her family never understood her desire for the show. ”One of my sisters was a doctor, the other was an architect, and suddenly I arrived, the black sheep of the family (…) I was the ugly one, the one who had everything happen to her and from there came this desire to improve myself in everything that I would do and that there would be someone who admired me,” he stated. When her family saw that people admired her, they changed their minds. ”They realized that she was more hard-working and smarter than she seemed,” she asserted.
