Kevin Spacey ready to “get back to work” after his acquittal of sex crime charges

Kevin Spacey, known for his role in ‘House of Cards’, has given his first televised interview since he was accused of sexual crimes seven years ago. On the NewsNation show, the actor expressed his desire to return to show business.

The American performer was left without projects in Hollywood in 2017 when the accusations against him became public. However, in 2022 he was acquitted of one of the accusations and a year later he was found not guilty of nine other charges.

During the interview, Spacey assumed his “responsibility,” but also expressed that he will not be responsible for accusations that he considers exaggerated or false. “I’m not going to be responsible for things that I didn’t do or that have been exaggerated or have changed a lot,” he said.

Despite feeling “ready to move forward,” Spacey acknowledged that there is a climate of “fear” in the entertainment industry that could hinder his return to work. He criticized the MeToo movement, arguing that it has leaned too far toward injustice.

Regarding the recent documentary ‘Spacey Unmasked’, in which 10 more men accuse him of abuse, Spacey defended his innocence and regretted not having had enough time to respond to the accusations broadcast by the British network Channel 4.

Despite the accusations against him, Spacey has the support of some industry colleagues. Liam Neeson, F. Murray Abraham and Sharon Stone have publicly expressed their support for the actor’s return to the film sets.

The actor was grateful for the support he received: “There are people I have spoken to who love me and believe in me. They have been with me in private, but they are afraid to do it [in public]. “I think it’s a shame that we’ve reached a point as a society where people are afraid to say what they believe and what they feel because they’re afraid they’ll be canceled too.”
