Kevin Costner, actor in films such as The Bodyguard, has decided to start a new project after his divorce agreement with his ex-wife Christine Baumgartner. His new dream, according to several American media reports, is the construction of a film studio located in the city of St. George, in the state of Utah.
The director has also launched the construction of a film studio which he has named Terror Film Studio. The news reached the press after the speech given by the city’s mayor, Michele Randall, who reported on the new remodeling projects that were going to take place in the town, among which she mentioned Costner’s study.
The Terror Film Studio will be located in an industrial space near the St. George airport, where the actor also plans to include a restaurant where catering services will be offered to clients. The place, which is estimated to have dimensions of about 46 square meters, will begin construction during 2024. “The works will begin in spring or summer,” as the mayor confirmed to the media after the speech.
Costner became interested in building a film studio in the area after filming two of the Horizon saga films in the state of Utah. According to what he told various media, the actor’s interest was born because the recording of both films was complicated due to the lack of warehouses available to record the scenes.
Despite the difficulties during the filming of Horizon, the actor said that he had fallen in love with Utah and that he planned to return to film the third and fourth parts of the saga.
His start in the business world coincides with a stage that is closing in the actor’s life: his divorce process with designer Christine Baumgartner. The former couple, who married in 2004, ended their relationship on March 1, 2023 at Christine’s request. After 18 years of marriage, the couple had a conflict-ridden divorce that was finally settled on February 16, 2024.
After the actor was involved in one of the most expensive divorces in the world of Hollywood during his first marriage to Cindy Silva, in which he lost the amount of 80 million, the interpreter decided to protect his assets before marrying the designer.
Both decided to sign a prenuptial agreement in which the maintenance expenses for their four common children and the expense of their attorneys’ fees during the divorce process were specified. However, the now ex-couple began a legal battle that lasted 4 months due to the legal advantage that Costner had over Christine in the prenuptial agreement.
Although in the final resolution the figure was lower than what she claimed, Costner’s ex-wife has emerged victorious, since the final support (118,000 euros) has been well above that established in the previous agreement. In addition, the actor must bear the cost of the fees of both lawyers, a figure that amounts to 850,000 euros.
For his part, Costner has been able to end a marriage full of conflicts and reproaches. After the trial and the payment of the established clauses, the Yellowstone actor has managed to maintain a total asset that is around 230 million euros, and with which he will be able to advance in his new business projects.
