The saga between Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner continues giving episodes worthy of mention. Less than twenty-four hours ago, the actor achieved an important judicial triumph with respect to his ex-wife. After 18 years of common marriage, she had to leave the family home, despite her multiple attempts to stay. Once this matter is closed, Baumgartner has decided to open another one to try to get a greater personal benefit.
The model has denounced this week that the maintenance that she must receive to take care of her three children is very low. According to the documents leaked by TMZ, Costner should transfer her ex-partner $51,940 a month as alimony, an amount that Baumgartner considers “completely inappropriate.” In her words, the actor would expect her children to live with her in worse conditions than when they live with him.
The also designer and veterinarian by profession commented that Costner spent a monthly amount of $240,000 when his children are with him. That means practically multiplying by five the support that Baumgartner should receive for the same expenses. She also noted that it was less than the $60,000 for which he was renting a guest house in the family’s California compound.
Christine considers that with the expected support she would not be able to match the way of life that her children maintain with their father, worsening their conditions considerably. The model believes that this amount could not even cover a similar rent, which is why she asked her ex-husband for $248,000 per month. For his part, Costner’s accountant noted that in that amount there were more than 100,000 dollars listed for aesthetic operations and purchases.
The serial on the divorce of Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner started last May, taking half of Hollywood by surprise, including the actor himself. Until then, the protagonist of Dances with Wolves and Yellowstone maintained what he thought was an idyllic relationship with his wife, but as the days went by it became clear that the separation was on the way to becoming a real pitched battle.
The first indication of this was that his now ex-wife refused to leave the family home actively and passively, something that forced Costner to put himself in the hands of the judge. Justice ended up agreeing with the winner of two Oscars, forcing Christine Baumgartner to leave the house before July 31. Even so, the model’s legal team is working against the clock to be able to declare void the 2004 prenuptial contract that would leave her on the street.
