Kenny Chesney concert, Pride and the Arts Festival will make for a busy weekend in Pittsburgh

City of Pittsburgh Preparing for Busy Weekend

PITTSBURGH (CBS Pittsburgh) — This upcoming weekend is set to be a bustling one in the city of Pittsburgh, with three major events taking place in different parts of town. Kenny Chesney will be in town for a summer concert at Acrisure Stadium, Pittsburgh Pride will kick off its annual festival, and the Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival will also be getting underway. Tens of thousands of people are expected to attend these events, making it a lively weekend throughout the city.

The Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival will begin this morning at 11:00 in the city’s Cultural District. With over 400 artists and vendors expected, the festival is anticipated to draw around 300,000 attendees over the next ten days. The Rachel Carson Bridge has been closed to traffic to accommodate the festival, providing additional space for artists and performances. The festival will run from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. each day through the following Sunday.

Pittsburgh Pride will kick off today at 2 p.m. at Allegheny Commons Park West, marking the start of Pride Month. Tomorrow, the Pittsburgh Pride March and Parade will take place along Liberty Avenue, welcoming all who wish to participate in support of LGBTQIA+ rights. The parade will be followed by performances from over 40 LGBTQIA+ artists, with headliner Tamar Braxton. The festival will conclude with a block party in Bloomfield from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Meanwhile, Kenny Chesney will be returning to Acrisure Stadium on Saturday as part of the Sun Goes Down Tour. Alongside the Zac Brown Band, Megan Moroney, and Uncle Kracker, Chesney will be performing for a packed house on the North Shore. This will mark Chesney’s 12th time headlining at the home of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

For those attending the concert, parking lots will open at 1 p.m., with gates opening at 4 p.m. and the opening acts starting at 5 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to park in Downtown Pittsburgh and utilize the free light rail to the North Shore, as Acrisure Stadium is a cashless venue. Remember to bring a clear plastic bag or a small handheld purse clutch if a bag is necessary.

This weekend’s events promise a vibrant and exciting time for Pittsburgh residents and visitors alike.
