Karlos Arguiñano puts 'MasterChef' back on: "They look like wars"

This past Monday the twelfth season of MasterChef started with all honors. The La 1 culinary contest began with views of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, ??with a large eliminatory test with which to eliminate more than 50 applicants. Despite being a late release, the first installment achieved acceptable audience data but received some complaints. One of them, from an illustrious chef.

Karlos Arguiñano, during a talk at one of his many cooking courses, attacked the Spanish Television format and ruled out that it had anything to do with the culinary world. The Basque chef, with more than 30 years of television recipes behind him, considered that discussions, rivalries and artificial drama took precedence over the most essential aspect: cooking and its consequent derivatives.

“They have offered me to do all those programs and I have not wanted to do any of them. They are not cooking shows, they are cooking reality shows. It focuses more on the conflict between the contestants than on true collaborative cooking and camaraderie. I haven’t wanted to do any; Those are not cooking shows, they are cooking reality shows. There you look more for the tears, the crying, the one who stole this from you, I hinder you, I don’t leave you… and cooking is camaraderie,” she explained.

“In those programs, no one has learned to cook, they seem like wars,” he insisted, in addition to also openly criticizing MasterChef Júnior for placing the little ones in a situation that does not belong to them. “Children should dedicate themselves to activities appropriate to their age and not be subject to the pressure and competition of a television cooking program,” added Arguiñano, also encouraging young people to help at home.

These have not been the only unexpected words that have appeared in the media following the premiere of MasterChef 12. The final selection would end up leaving out Idoia Montero, sister of the former singer of La Oreja de Van Gogh Amaia Montero, with the double refusal of Jordi Cruz and Pepe Rodríguez. The now alone woman expressed herself through her Instagram profile to send her support, based on a heartfelt phrase she left at her farewell.

“Failure is doing nothing, dear sister, and I add that true success is trying again and again and not giving up. Nobody knows it like you, we know it well. And yes, that ‘I want to be’ is a white flag. I don’t believe in good professionals if they are not good people and you are exceptional. Noah, amatxo, aitatxo and I are very proud of you. “Don’t let anyone tell you who you are,” were his words on the digital platform.
