Kanye West has decided to apologize. The artist, now known as Ye, published this past Tuesday a general apology to the Jewish community through social networks. He didn’t do it just any way, but he turned to the Hebrew language to do it.
“I sincerely apologize to the Jewish community for any unintentional outburst caused by my words or actions. It was not my intention to hurt or disrespect, and I deeply regret any pain I may have caused,” reads his message, spread through his social media accounts.
A message that the artist shared on his social networks after months in silence and surrounded by controversies, and although the rapper himself assured that he had intentions of changing and that he was committed to “repairing the damage and promoting unity.”
“I am committed to starting with myself and learning from this experience to ensure greater sensitivity and understanding in the future. Your forgiveness is important to me,” he writes. However, he does not give specific details about what actions or statements motivated his apology.
However, the rapper has been involved in multiple controversies since the end of 2022, mainly caused by a series of comments claiming that he was going to “destroy the Jews” who were widely considered racist and anti-Semitic – also drawing swastikas in some designs – which Among other things, they made him lose multimillion-dollar contracts with companies like Adidas or the Japanese company Uniqlo, and they reduced a large part of his fortune.
Luckily for the artist, the Jewish organization Anti-Defamation League accepted his apology. Of course, warning the rapper that “actions count louder than words.”
“After causing untold damage by using his enormous influence and platform to poison countless minds with ruthless anti-Semitism and hatred, an apology in Hebrew can be the first step on a long path toward reparations to the Jewish community and all those he harmed.” those it has hurt,” the organization expressed through the social network X, formerly Twitter.
The singer’s apology comes just before the release of his new studio album, Vultures, so there are many who consider that this gesture by the artist could be a marketing strategy. What’s more, just a month ago the rapper released the first single, which gives the album its title, where he claimed that he could not be anti-Semitic because he had slept with a Jewish woman.
After apologizing, the rapper headed with his children to the Crypto.com Arena, where the Los Angeles Lakers were playing a close game against the Boston Celtics. There he let himself be loved by his unconditional followers, to whom he did not hesitate to sign autographs before leaving with his partner, Bianca Censori.
