Juan y Medio reveals the true reason why he has never been a father: “It weighs on my soul”

“I would have liked to be a father. “It weighs on my soul.” Juan y Medio does not usually talk about his most personal life, much less do so on television. However, the presenter has made an exception for his good friend Bertín Osborne, to whom he gave an interview on El Show de Bertín.

A conversation in which he talks about his most professional side and his success on Canal Sur at the head of the magazine La Tarde: Aqui y Ahora with Eva Ruíz; but it also gave him the opportunity to open up about the most intimate side of him and explain a mystery for many: why he has not been a father.

The presenter, 61 years old, has always been characterized by having a great relationship with the little ones; and proof of this are the programs in which he has participated as a presenter and the children have been the main protagonists. What’s more, as Juan y Medio confesses, he had such a good time with them that he would have liked nothing more than to have his own.

He had never before been heard giving explanations as to why he had chosen not to have children, but the presenter surprised viewers by revealing the reason why he had not been a father and, to the surprise of some, he insisted that it was not his “fault.” ” hers.

“They’re running away. When they see where they are going to go, she says: ‘Go ahead and get some ointment.’ They are people that I have loved, but perhaps I have not been up to the task,” the presenter confessed, about his previous partners. “I have found couples with whom I could have had a family. The longest relationship I have had was 10 years, seven years… But I have also spent years without having a partner.”

Thus, Juan y Medio could not turn his dream of becoming a father into reality. Yes, he is an uncle, of only one nephew, who is also called Juan. The curious thing is that the presenter belongs to a very large family with six siblings, but none of them are married. “I attribute it to the education we have received, but unconsciously, none of the five of us have gotten married nor have we become a de facto couple,” he explained.

The presenter attributes not having children to prioritizing other things in his life. “It hasn’t always been my decision, sometimes I wanted to and she didn’t, maybe I have been too responsible,” he explains, at another point in the interview. “When you do what you want, how you want, it is very difficult to adapt to changes.”

A life full of professional successes that, despite being “close” to retirement age, does not seem to be in his immediate future. “I have a great time, I really like my job,” she insists. “If you feel loved and if you can carry out what your team asks of you… What is the alternative? Stay home? “I’m not going to stay in my house.”
