The current situation in the Spanish performing world left unexpected news in the last few hours. Juan José Ballesta, an actor known for his roles in films such as El Bola or Planta Cuatro, once again finds himself in the eye of the hurricane. The native of Parla is accused of an alleged sexual assault, for which he will have to testify before the judge on November 7. The details fall in dribs and drabs, but his defense has already given its response in the media.
Beatriz Uriarte, Ballesta’s lawyer, spoke about the case this Tuesday morning, before the microphones of Europa Press. According to her, her client does not know the person who reported her for the aforementioned crime, and she has been incredulous at the victim’s background. She claims that she is a childhood friend of the actor, a fact that the lawyer considers strange considering the age difference that exists between the two.
“What my client says is that he does not know this person since he does not know him, I cannot provide much more information about the procedure either,” said Uriarite. “The reality is that it has been published that apparently they are childhood friends. It surprises me that this could have happened because they have a very wide age difference and when this lady was ten years old, she is in her childhood, this person had not yet been born,” she added.
“It is a little difficult for her to be his childhood friend and it is also very complicated for her to be his neighbor because from what we have been able to see they do not live in the same block and apparently he does not live in the same place as Juan José Ballesta either. Madrid is very big and to say that because we live in Madrid we are neighbors, I think it is going too far,” the lawyer completed in relation to this matter, before adding that Ballesta has not been arrested because the case has not been prosecuted.
“The reality is that to date he has not been arrested, this process has already been judicialized and also what I want to highlight is that he does not have any type of criminal or police record, nor has there been any type of sentence, so “There is an investigation, we will declare before the judicial authority and that he has not been accused of anything because the complaint has not even been ratified by the complainant,” Uriarte detailed.
Likewise, the lawyer did not want to go into detail about whether the victim was undergoing psychiatric treatment at the time of the complaint. Uriarte also does not know if legal measures will be taken: “No, we have not yet assessed it. Now the only thing we are evaluating is that the time comes as soon as possible to give a statement so that we can end this procedure and that she can continue living her life as she was doing it up to this moment.
