Only a few hours have passed since Nebulossa declared themselves winners of Benidorm Fest 2024, but their victory has already left opinions for all tastes. Zorra is something new, a protest and feminist song, but it doesn’t seem to have the festival’s followers on its side.
The song was the star topic of the La Roca debate, and although there are some commentators who declare themselves a fan of the topic, this is not the case with Juan del Val, who did not seem to agree too much with the type of song or with the spirit that he intended to convey to the festival.
“I heard the singer in an interview and she said that it was a necessary song,” the writer began. “Let’s see…”. The author of Bocabesada implied that he did not consider it that way at all. “This is a bit old, isn’t it? It’s like from the eighties.”
Now, despite not considering the song suitable for the Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held on May 11 at the Mälmo Arena (Sweden); The journalist does have one thing clear: “I’m a slut” will be the most repeated thing at all the parties between now and summer.
An opinion with which his partner, Nacho García, agreed. “It’s an anthem, the one that had the most message around it. The message matters. The style matters.”
Blanca Paloma, Spain’s representative at Eurovision 2023, performed in the grand final of the European song festival, finally settling for 17th place with her EAEA, loaded with meaning. Experts at the festival fear precisely that, that Nebulossa’s song, vindictive and with a message, will suffer the same fate.
However, even though Nebulossa may score few points, the Alicante duo couldn’t care less. “Bringing this message to Europe is important. We all need to be on equal terms and for marginalization to end in any universe,” they said, after lifting the trophy that proclaimed them winners at the Benidorm Fest.
