The latest Déjate querer program has landed on Telecinco. The program presented by Paz Padilla says goodbye to the Telecinco audience after a short season in which the audiences have not accompanied the presenter and her entire team.

On this occasion, the cantaor José Mercé has visited the set of the Mediaset program to surprise one of his biggest fans. In addition, he has reviewed his personal and professional trajectory.

José Mercé is positioned as a key artist in Spanish music, breaking borders and taking his music not only to the flamenco audience, but also reaching a younger audience, lovers of pop. “If I feel happy about something, it is because people love me. They see me on the street, they greet me, they hug me… That fills me with health and life”, the artist assured at the beginning of the interview.

Born in Jerez de la Frontera on April 19, 1955, his real name is José Soto Soto and he comes from a famous family of gypsy singers: “My parents were hard workers, working from sunrise to sunset, illiterate… and they had the balls of raising five children, giving them studies, ensuring that their children were not illiterate and did not have to be lying in the fields”, he assured.

“My greatest regret is that my parents did not experience the great moments of my profession”, the cantaor confessed with tears in his eyes. “The people we love never leave. You live with that, it’s not the same but you must continue living with hope. I am one of those who believe that this is a step, that there is life above…”, added the artist.

“I think so too and… Do you know what my dream is?” Paz Padilla asked the cantaor. “When I miss them so much I say… You will come looking for me”, Paz Padilla confessed with tears in her eyes. Both have melted into a hug.

On the other hand, José Mercé has recalled how he met the love of his life; his wife. In 1968 he decided to move to Madrid when he was only 13 years old, and in the capital he would change his life forever. There he met what would be his great love, Mercedes García.

“We met at the age of 13 and I’ve been with her my whole life. Everything I am I owe to her. We say to each other every day ‘I love you.’ When you reach certain ages, her passion is different, but it’s prettier,” explained the visibly happy artist.
