Joaquín Prat explodes against false patriotism: ''And I do not carry the flag of Spain''

On January 5, King Juan Carlos celebrated his 86th birthday with a big party in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, the country where he has resided for four years. A total of about 80 guests attended the event, including his daughters, the Infantas Elena and Cristina, several of his grandchildren and numerous of his friends.

Days after the aforementioned birthday, the magazine ¡Hola! published this past Wednesday in its new issue a series of images of the event, in which we could see several members of the Royal Family accompanying the King Emeritus in the great celebration in Abu Dhabi. The topic has been one of the most talked about in recent days, so the collaborators of Vamos a Ver took advantage of this Thursday’s social chronicle section to comment on everything that happened.

Before delving into the topic at hand, the presenter, Joaquín Prat, introduced the birthday in a very ironic way and ensuring that in Abu Dhabi “there were many flags”. After these words, collaborator Sandra Alardo was about to comment on the birthday images, but the presenter interrupted her speech to launch a small barb against patriotism.

”I’m just going to say one thing. The most patriotic is the one who contributes the most. How is patriotism demonstrated? Paying taxes,” the presenter assured. “And someone tells you that someone who has had their income audited for the 23 years that I have been working. Not a single penny of everything I have earned has escaped the Treasury! And I haven’t I wrap myself in the flag of Spain, I could do it, eh? If only for everything I have contributed. Let others take note,” Prat criticized.

“Oh, I was untrained. I missed this shit!” said the presenter after several days absent from the program. Moments later, Joaquín Prat apologized to the audience and gave way to the collaborators to give their opinion on the birthday of the King Emeritus.
