The FBI has conducted an extensive investigation into the attempted assassination of former President Trump at a campaign rally in western Pennsylvania. Despite conducting 200 interviews and analyzing 14,000 images, they claim to still not have a clear motive for the attack.

Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., a member of the House Oversight Committee, expressed skepticism about the FBI’s findings, calling it “bulls—” that they have not determined a motive yet. Burchett emphasized the importance of swift action to address concerns and prevent conspiracy theories from circulating.

In response to the lack of answers, the Oversight Committee has subpoenaed Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to testify at a hearing scheduled for July 22. The committee is seeking clarification on the attempted assassination and the Secret Service’s handling of the incident.

The would-be assassin, Thomas Matthew Crooks, reportedly conducted searches on his cellphone related to Presidents Biden and Trump, as well as symptoms of depressive disorder prior to the shooting. He had also visited the rally site in Butler, Pennsylvania, before the attack.

During the shooting, a 50-year-old father, former fire chief Corey Comperatore, tragically lost his life while protecting his wife and daughters. Two other individuals, David Dutch and James Copenhaver, sustained serious injuries but are now recovering in a local hospital.

Crooks was “neutralized” by Secret Service snipers after setting up on a roof near the rally site. The circumstances of how he gained access to the building and fired shots are still under investigation, leading to tensions between the Secret Service and local law enforcement.

Despite being a registered Republican, Crooks had no criminal record or traffic violations. He had only participated in a state election in November 2022 due to his age, as revealed by voting records.

As the investigation continues, the Oversight Committee and federal authorities are under pressure to provide answers and address concerns surrounding the attempted assassination. The upcoming hearing with Secret Service Director Cheatle is expected to shed light on the events leading up to the attack and the response by law enforcement agencies.

The tragic incident has raised questions about security protocols at public events and the need for enhanced measures to prevent similar acts of violence in the future. The community in Butler, Pennsylvania, is mourning the loss of Corey Comperatore and sending thoughts and prayers to those injured in the shooting.
