When doing a manicure, it is not enough to choose a trendy nail shape and color, but we must not neglect certain details that will make our hands look much more beautiful. This is the case of the cuticles, that skin of the nail that some people remove completely, while other people do not even pay attention to it.

The truth is that cuticles have the power to beautify or completely ruin a manicure, so it is important that we give them some pampering and attention whether you do your manicure at home or go to a professional beauty salon. Keep in mind that this is very sensitive skin, which protects the nail bed, so it must be treated with care.

First of all, it should be noted that removing the cuticle from the nail is not absolutely essential. There are those who, whether due to genetics or because they take careful care of it, have a cuticle with a good shape and appearance, so that it does not dull their manicures and they do not have to remove them.

However, other people have thicker, irregular or dry-looking cuticles, so they do prefer to remove the cuticle in order to show off a neater and more beautiful manicure. In this case, a very common mistake is to cut them completely, which will damage this delicate area, running the risk of the cuticles growing back quickly and also irregularly.

Instead, it is best to choose to carefully remove the cuticle and, only when strictly necessary, carefully trim excess dead skin. To remove the cuticle, the first step is to remove the nail polish you wore before getting your new manicure. Afterwards, apply a scrub to your hands and rinse them with warm water to soften the skin of the cuticles and remove dead skin.

Next, push the cuticle back very carefully, using a metal or silicone shovel, or an orange stick. If you have little cuticle and thin skin, this will be enough to be able to continue with your manicure normally. But if you want to remove excess skin, use specific cuticle pliers to carefully trim the cuticle without damaging it or removing it completely.

Then, apply a moisturizing cuticle oil with a gentle massage before painting your nails, so that the product penetrates the skin well. Once absorbed, you can now paint your nails. Finally, conclude the manicure process by putting moisturizing cream on your hands and also on the cuticle area. As a final tip, applying cream to your hands every night and a cuticle oil a couple of times a week will help make your cuticles look much more cared for and hydrated.
