Christmas has not started well for the inhabitants of the historic house at 2400 Rosedale, in Houston, known for being the childhood home of Beyoncé. As several American media have reported, an accidental fire has burned down this emblematic property. Fortunately, the family that currently resides in the house managed to escape without suffering damage.
The Houston Fire Department received notification of the fire at approximately 2:00 a.m. Fire District Chief Justin Barnes told local media that firefighters arrived on the scene within minutes and were able to bring the fire under control in about 10 minutes. However, the causes are still unknown.
This property is not just any house; It is a place of historical and sentimental interest for Beyoncé fans. The Knowles family acquired the property in 1982, and the artist lived there until she was five years old. During her recent visit to Houston as part of her Renaissance World Tour, Beyoncé even appeared nearby taking photos of the property, demonstrating her personal connection to her home.
In fact, although Beyoncé has not lived there for a long time nor has she spent too many years, many of the singer’s fans have come over the years to check out the place where their idol was born.
For this reason, the property, built in 1946, has been a landmark in Houston’s Third Ward neighborhood, also standing out for its historical value. Its importance within the neighborhood was demonstrated when, in 2018, the property came on the market and the real estate agent shared its story with Good Morning America.
