Limescale is the main enemy of bathrooms, its remains accumulate on all kinds of surfaces, especially on taps and tiles. The result is a bathroom that is not very attractive from an aesthetic point of view, dull and with a deteriorated and dirty appearance. However, getting rid of lime stains is easier than it may seem, as long as a series of tips are taken into account. Although the first thing is to understand how these annoying white spots are produced.
What causes lime is a series of minerals diluted in the water, mainly calcium and magnesium carbonate. For this reason, as the liquid passes, these minerals gradually deposit and accumulate, becoming larger and larger as the crystallization process begins and they join each other. This is the reason that gives rise to the rough and white layer that is known as lime and that ends up spoiling the elements of the bathroom. That is why it is convenient to remove it as soon as possible and prevent it from accumulating.
The longer it takes to get rid of lime stains on tiles, the more difficult it will be to do later. As it is a porous surface, it is particularly easy for lime to settle in those spaces and give rise to layers of lime, which also deteriorates the tiles. One of the most classic home remedies to remove these stains is to create a mixture of white vinegar and baking soda diluted in water. In this way it will be easy to eliminate them, just apply the mixture, let it act for a few minutes and rinse and dry it well.
The technique to get rid of the layer of lime that accumulates on the faucets is the same as for the tiles, that is, the infallible mixture of white vinegar, bicarbonate of soda and water. However, it is possible that, if the amount of limescale is large, for example, in places with hard water, it will be more difficult. For those cases, it is best to add lemon to the mixture, create a paste and place it on the damp faucet, leaving it to act for an hour. All you have to do is rinse with water and dry.
One of the places where limescale usually accumulates is in the shower head. And, when any of the holes is clogged by it and no water comes out, it is already a problem that must be dealt with without delay. The solution is very easy, you just have to redo the mixture of white vinegar, baking soda and water and pour it over a plastic bag. This will be tied with the shower head inside and, after a few hours, you will only have to remove the sprouting remains. Rinse and done.
