Despite the general vision that viewers may have, Big Brother and other reality shows continue to have life beyond Spain. Territories such as the United Kingdom or the Netherlands, father of the concept of modern reality television, continue to produce and broadcast formats of all kinds in Europe. The same happens in Latin America, where the program inspired by the 1984 figure continues to be a safe bet.
Unfortunately, moments often occur that make us forget that we are dealing with entertainment, giving way to something much more serious and worrying. That is exactly what has happened in Big Brother Argentina, broadcast by the Telefe network. During its last gala, the public and the presenter were able to discover that one of its participants, named Agostina, had received death threats from another contestant.
“I am not going to live with a woman who threatens to kill me. “I’m leaving right now!”, she expressed anguishedly, given the last movements that had been made in the house. She and two other contestants, Juliana and Lisandro, were nominated for elimination in the last installment, with the man going home. This provoked Agostina’s alarmed reaction, pointing out Juliana as the perpetrator of the threats.
Given what happened, the presenter Santiago del Moro decided that the contestant could access another room of the program in which she could explain herself more calmly. “I don’t want to convince you of anything, you know that once you leave, you can’t come back. I would like you to think about it at least until tomorrow,” she explained, as an approach so that it would not result in an overreaction later. However, Agostina was very clear.
“I’m afraid to stay, I can’t go to sleep in my bed because I don’t know if she’s going to stab me with a knife. Do you know the number of homicides that exist after a threat? “Agostina asked, who officially confirmed her abandonment at that very moment. Social networks were filled with reactions, including scenes in which the affected person herself had previously dedicated violent comments to another contestant, Furia.
“Agostina may have suggested violence at some point but yesterday she was in the middle of a crisis and the program or whoever did not contain her. Especially when Santiago del Moro told her that he was overestimating what she was perceiving with the situation,” noted a user on X (Twitter), in the midst of a sea of ??crossed comments. The program shared an emergency telephone number for victims of gender violence.
