Just over 24 hours remain to find out the next Eurovision winner. This Saturday, May 11, the grand final of the musical competition will be held at the Malmö Arena in Malmö (Sweden). The 26 countries that will compete to obtain the coveted crystal microphone are now known. The second semi-final of the 2024 edition, held this Thursday, awarded the last ten vacant places for the final. And our country has suffered a blow.

The truth is that last Thursday night had moments for everything: from controversy, tension and also spectacle. The latter was served by our representative, Mery Bass, who premiered with her song Zorra at Eurovision 2024. And, unlike previous years, in this 68th edition of the famous contest, the members of the ‘Big Five’, the five top countries, as well as the host country, performed during the semi-final.

Nebulossa, our representative duo, were one of the artists who made the most of their performance. Although there were doubts about what would happen at the Malmö Arena, the audience sang their famous song at the top of their lungs this Thursday. Those present enjoyed the rhythm of the song, something that suggested that the Valencian couple could obtain a great place in the final.

However, Spanish letters not only came from the hand of our representatives, but also from the hand of Megara, representative of San Marino. This is something historic, since it is the first time that there are two songs in Spanish in the Eurovision Song Contest. However, luck was not on Megara’s side who, after knowing the votes, knew that she had been left on the verge of the final, since she did not qualify. It is also a defeat for our country and a setback for all those who supported him as well.

Thus, Eurovision has already announced who will be the countries competing in the final. These are Latvia, the Netherlands, Israel, Austria, Norway, Greece, Estonia, Switzerland, Georgia and Armenia. Therefore, Albania, Belgium, Malta, San Marino, Denmark and the Czech Republic are left out. It is expected to be a final as close as it is controversial, since boos have already been heard against Israel for the war started with Gaza. We will have to wait to find out how tomorrow night plays out.
