Laughter can catch us all by surprise at the least expected moment. A well-told joke at the ideal moment, a silly fall, a video on social media or any nonsense that happens around us is likely to make us burst out laughing and not stop. Comedians know how to take advantage of this human facet and tighten the screws, causing even more laughter and even tears.
A situation of this style occurred in this Monday’s edition of El Hormiguero, the program presented by Pablo Motos on Antena 3. The program, which thanks to Jorge Salvador’s negotiations will also be broadcast in the United States, featured the comedian Goyo Jiménez from Melilla as a guest, who presented his latest show based on how worrying flight experiences can be: Misery Class.
During their interview, both he and Motos detected a fit of laughter and momentarily stopped the conversation, bringing a microphone closer to the stands of the San Sebastián de los Reyes studio. There they met Susana, a beauty worker who couldn’t stop laughing at the conversation exchanges with Goyo. The comedian’s “capillary disability,” as he himself calls his baldness, has been one of the topics of the talk.
Taking advantage of the occasion, Pablo has given him the opportunity to interact with the rest of the public. The second person he has spoken to is Area, a worker at a factory where they manage cosmetic products. The possibility of calling the toothpaste “toothpaste” or toothpaste has formed part of her interaction, connecting her to Susana being a beautician. Although she generated laughter, the moment ended in a very pleasant way.
Goyo has been kind enough to give both Area and Susana a pack of double tickets to attend a performance of Misery Class. A stand-up show whose name was coined by chance by King Africa, after meeting him on a flight but in different categories. The man from Melilla has defined acting as “when on the journey of life you have the feeling that you have gotten the worst seat.”
Similarly, Goyo has discussed other issues in his life, in particular the fact that he will turn 54 this coming Wednesday: “In 48 hours I will be 54 years old, and it is true that when I reach 50 I have done all the sport that I I hadn’t done it before.” He expressed another interesting note about the use of social networks: “They remind me of when they gave away megaphones at fairs because it seems to me that networks are like giving a megaphone to a fool.”
