Fran Rivera and his wife, Lourdes Montes, form one of the most established couples in the social chronicle of our country. The bullfighter and the designer form a large family with their two children and this year they planned to take one of the most important trips of their lives.
The main reason was to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary. Rivera and Montes said “I do” on September 14, 2013 in a civil ceremony in the Malaga municipality of Ronda. But just ten months later, they celebrated a church wedding in the capital of Seville.
Now, on the occasion of their tenth anniversary and with the intention of renewing their wedding vows, the couple planned to travel to Jerusalem. But the outbreak of the conflict between Palestine and Israel has caused the bullfighter and the designer to cancel the trip.
This is what parish priest Antonio Romero said this Thursday on the Spanish Television program Mañaneros. The clergyman, who was one of the organizers of the trip, assured that the couple was very hurt by everything that had happened. ”Both Francisco and Lourdes know that the trip will not be possible. There they were going to renew their marriage,’ he asserted.
”Some fiancés also came who were going to propose. They also came from 25 years old, up to 50 years old. Fran and Lourdes and those who came were going to give each other that ‘yes, I want’ so beautiful and special,” he confessed.
”Both for Fran and Lourdes and for all those who came, the pilgrimage to the Holy Land is one of the goals. That beautiful place where Jesus was. That beautiful place where Jesus was at a wedding becomes a very special place, where we do that anniversary celebration again. It is very special for marriages. It is one of the peak moments of surrendering again, that is why we are sad, because of the horror of the images we see, Christians in the middle. Also because of the pain we have, the uncertainty. And having to suspend the trip,’ he concluded.
