'Fallout', renewed by Prime Video a week after the premiere

It was leaving the shelter and succeeding. Fallout, which arrived in the Prime Video catalog last week with its first season, has already been renewed by the content platform. Its merit? Having become one of the three most viewed series in Amazon history and the most viewed season internationally since The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

“Praise be to our incredibly brilliant showrunners, Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner, our killer cast, Todd and James and all the legends at Bethesda, and Jen, Vernon and the amazing team at Amazon for their extraordinary support of this series.” , the series’ producers, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, celebrated in a statement. Nolan has also been the director who has laid the visual foundations of the series.

“Shit,” Robertson-Dworet and Wagner said, thanking Prime Video for giving them the opportunity to address the serious issues that affect our society today. “Cannibalism, incest, jello pie,” they have joked.

This creative tandem with experience in comedy with series such as The Office, Silicon Valley or Portlandia by Wagner and in action with films such as Tomb Raider and Captain Marvel by Robertson-Dworet, had the impossible task of adapting one of the sagas. most successful video game, Fallout, with more than 55 million units sold.

The series is set in a post-apocalyptic reality after, in the midst of the paranoia of the Cold War that forced us to think that a nuclear holocaust could destroy everything, civilization as we knew it disappeared. Lucy MacLean (Ella Purnell), the protagonist, has been raised inside a bunker in a community that has not surfaced for two centuries and with a mental framework characterized by the traditions of the fifties: extreme kindness and outdated values. for the rest of humanity.

Lucy decides to go outside after her community is violently raided by outsiders and her father Hank (Kyle MacLachlan) is abducted, against the warnings of their leaders. And, taking into account that she is armed with kindness and an innate ability to give the benefit of the doubt to whoever is in front of her, she is an easy prey for a context that she does not know and where, in short, the philosophy of every man for himself prevails.

For now, critics have been enthusiastic about Fallout’s combination of apocalypse, humor, action and violence, with the luck of having a high budget to make this vision a reality.
