Everything ready for the exclusive wedding of Baltasar Garzón and Dolores Delgado: guests and first curiosities

Baltasar Garzón and Dolores Delgado have been two of the most common names in current Spanish politics in recent years. The first, as a judge of the National Court and his involvement in the crusade against anyone supposedly linked to ETA, in addition to the wiretapping of the Gürtel plot. For her part, the second was Minister of Justice during the Pedro Sánchez legislature after the motion of censure against Mariano Rajoy.

Two people closely linked to headlines and news, friends for three decades and who for three years maintained a personal but also discreet relationship. It was last December 3 when they both said ‘I do’ and became husband and wife, although they have not officially celebrated the union in public. That hole will be covered tomorrow, Saturday, when both organize a party at Finca Cetrina.

The large mansion, located about 85 kilometers from Jaén, was owned by the bullfighter Enrique Ponce and his wife, Paloma Cuevas. Technically it belongs to the municipality of Navas de San Juan, 20 minutes away from Úbeda and 30 from Linares. The land occupies a total of 900 hectares and is crowned by a 420 square meter house with three floors, built around a large Andalusian patio.

As for guests, Garzón himself assured that this party would be “super private”, so few names have emerged in the previous hours. The La Otra Crónica portal of El País anticipates the presence of the singers Ana Belén and Víctor Manuel, in addition to pointing out two other names, one doubtful and one ruled out. The first is Joan Manuel Serrat, who until the last minute will not know if he will attend, while the second is Miguel Ríos, absent due to his tour in Mexico.

This Saturday’s party, however, comes after a controversy surrounding the couple. This past Tuesday, the Supreme Court annulled the appointment of Delgado as prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office for Human Rights and Democratic Memory. According to EFE, this is the second annulled appointment against the former minister, after she was not allowed to be part of the high court’s prosecutor’s office in November.

The reason for the annulment of the former state attorney general, according to the information agency, was a possible conflict of interest as her current husband, Baltasar Garzón. The former judge’s International Foundation directly rejected the criticism and considered it “patriarchal,” given that it was connected to her personal relationship.
