Erika Do Rosario Nieves, the well-known daughter of former Cameroonian soccer player Samuel Eto’o, has filed a complaint in which she requests a year in prison for her father for non-payment of alimony. The 22-year-old has claimed back support, which is estimated to be a total of five years. Through her lawyer, Erika has estimated the amount that her father owes her at 90,000 euros.
Samuel Eto’o already has a criminal record related to non-compliance with maintenance obligations towards another extramarital daughter. He was sentenced to one year and ten months for a tax offense in Spain and another economic penalty for not paying the corresponding pension. Now, Erika is looking for justice to be done and for her father to comply with her legal obligations.
Erika’s lawyer has indicated that Samuel Eto’o is exposed to aggravating circumstances of recidivism and abuse of authority, considering the superiority he has over his daughter. If the case goes to trial, it will be held in Madrid.
Erika, who has had to alternate her studies with a job as a supermarket cashier, has expressed her disgust at the situation. “I’m very upset, but I’m hopeful,” she commented, referring to her father’s failure to appear on a previous summons.
Erika’s mother, Adileusa, met Samuel Eto’o through a relative who worked at Real Madrid. The young woman filed a paternity suit in 2018, in which she claimed that the soccer player had told her that she would act responsibly, although she would prefer that she not have the child. In 2018, Eto’o was provisionally ordered to pay a retroactive monthly pension of 1,400 euros, which was never fulfilled.
Erika hopes that her complaint will lead to the sentence being carried out and her father assuming his financial responsibility towards her.
