After weeks of much secrecy and speculation, Kate Middleton reappeared this Friday for the first time officially after the abdominal surgery she underwent in the middle of last January. In a video shared by Kensington Palace on social networks and broadcast by the BBC, the Princess of Wales announced that she suffers from cancer. Without giving more details about the illness, the Princess of Wales asked for respect and privacy for her family at this time, when she is undergoing chemotherapy treatment. Now, it has been learned that there was a call between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Prince of Wales after this announcement.
A few years ago the relationship between both brothers, Guillermo and Enrique, was damaged. The little brother’s memories did a disservice to the relationship with the first-born of Lady Di and Carlos III. However, it seems that this distancing has been put aside after the news came to light that Kate suffers from cancer.
As revealed by ITV Royal editor Chris Ship, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have contacted Prince William and his wife privately. Apparently, a conversation arose between both couples, although it has not been specified whether it occurred by talking on their mobile phones, through a video call or by exchanging messages. Be that as it may, this gesture is understood as a rapprochement between both couples, especially between the two brothers.
It should be remembered that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex spoke publicly as soon as they learned of their sister-in-law’s illness. The two released a statement expressing their wishes for “health and healing for Kate and her family, and we hope they can do so privately and peacefully.” From the North American press, it is claimed that the couple found out at the same time as the rest of the world. “They had no idea,” sources close to them tell the New York Post.
For the moment, the question remains whether Enrique intends to fly from his California residence to the United Kingdom, as he did a few weeks ago, when his father announced that he had been diagnosed with cancer. It should be remembered that the prince considers Kate “a sister”, as he himself said in his autobiographical book, In the Shadow. The last time that both brothers-in-law saw each other was on May 6, 2023, during the coronation of Charles III.
