This Wednesday the new season of American horror story, titled Delicate, premieres in the United States. The protagonist is Emma Roberts, who can already be considered a muse of creator Ryan Murphy after participating in six seasons of the horror franchise and having starred in Scream Queens, the cult horror comedy. And, while she is unable to promote the title due to the actors’ strike called by the actors’ union, the Screen Actors Guild, the actress finds herself with a hot potato on her hands: she has been accused of transphobia on filming.
The events did not take place during the filming of Delicate, where he shares scenes with the trans actress M.J. Rodríguez, but in 1984, the season produced in 2019 and set in a Friday the 13th-style summer camp in the 1980s. According to Angelica Ross, who had another of the main roles, Roberts treated her as a man during an informal conversation in the work environment.
In statements by the actress on her Instagram account, she was talking to her when Roberts jokingly warned a member of the crew that Angelica Ross was being “mean.” When that man told them to have peace and behave, referring to the two actresses as “ladies,” Roberts stared at her partner and blurted out, “Don’t you mean lady?” as if there was only one woman there. Next, as the alleged victim shows in the images, Roberts covered his mouth and turned away from her, like someone who tells a bad joke and lets it float in the air.
“I was left processing what he had said,” Ross confesses about the experience, while his “blood boiled.” But he didn’t want to complain about Roberts’ behavior because, in her opinion, she would have been the one who would have suffered the consequences. “I know this because there was someone who reported what she was doing and that person received the reprimand, not her,” he explained, referring to Roberts.
“I didn’t talk to that bitch for the rest of the time. We had scenes together and I never talked to her. She noticed my energy and said “are you okay? “You never talk to me,” she recounted the experience. But she stood her ground, maintaining that she wasn’t even Roberts’ only victim. “You’ve been playing mind games with all the people on the set,” he said, referring to the actress.
At the moment, neither Emma Roberts nor Ryan Murphy have commented on this controversy. It is not the first time, furthermore, that the actress has been involved in a controversy. In 2013 she was arrested for mistreating her partner, Even Peters, who was found bleeding from the nose and with a bite mark. However, the couple reported through a representative that it had been an “unfortunate incident and misunderstanding” and, as a result, Roberts did not suffer any repercussions for her alleged actions.
